Holograms Which You Can Touch and Feel - Computer Game Technologies of the Future

In the future will holograms become so real as to be indistinguishable from reality - yet somewhat translucent for the next generation of this technology - is this possible? Can humans be fooled by a hologram, and enjoy living in a holographic world? What about touch, feel, and that sort of thing? This are all specific question which our think tank has asked from time to time, but we are hardly alone in considering such possibilities and future potential eventualities.

In fact, Dick Pelletier, a Futurist, wrote an interesting piece in opinion section of "the Positive Futurist Online Newsletter" on December 8, 2010 titled; "Future Relationships: big changes on the way, experts say," where he stated amongst his future predictions that;

"By late 2020s, holographic technology will allow images to leave the screen and appear as living flesh in hologram form. Nanorobots will alter our senses making the images seem real. Wrapping arms around a hologram will convince your mind that you are experiencing an actual physical meeting."

Wow, now that is an interesting concept isn't it - sure it is, but is this possible? Well, as the author of "Holograph Projection Technologies of the Future" I'd say definitely, YES! But let's talk about why I believe this prediction of Dick Pelletier to be correct.

Since energy can be applied to the light beams used in the holographic projection or spectral imagine, then touching the hologram could "possibly" be made to give a sensation of firmness, or have similar properties to that of an actual object. Scary perhaps, but well within the realm of possibility, so will it become so? Maybe, maybe not, but first human scientists will in fact need to learn a few more tricks of physics, nevertheless, we are making great progress.

So, what is the time line we are talking about here? Well, according to an online eBook; "Holographic Projection Technologies of the Future" we might just see such technological progress by 2030. Interestingly enough, Pelletier seems to have arrived at a similar future prediction, so who knows, maybe he's right. Of course the most obvious application would be for living room computer games. So this is perhaps where we will see it first. Please consider all this.
